Shock: 2025 Chevy Blazer EV SS to speed up the Daytona 500

For purists, hearing the Chevy Blazer EV from 2025 will set the Daytona 500 this year at different levels. Yet Chevrolet is overjoyed with the news, giving it the chance to emphasize the fully electric crossover and the fact that it is the fastest SS model that it has ever produced.

Some big names do not like Nascar open provisional rule for exemption.

With the Daytona 500 on February 16, the announcement gets many reactions, many of them unfavorable. Some on social media ask the timing of using an EV to accelerate a hugely popular Nascar race, while others wonder why Chevy could not only use a Corvette instead.

The answer is clear: just as Chevy says in his official announcement about the blazer EV SS Pacing the Daytona 500, the completely new model will be on sale later in the first quarter of 2025. All-electric performance crossover.

But do you have to ask if it will even work? Maybe some Nascar fans will see the Chevy and they want to go and see it at a dealer, but it is honestly not looking so remarkable. And it is not going to race against the stock cars, only performing pace car cars, so the acceleration will not even be exhibited.

Moreover, it is not a terribly popular movement to put an EV on the circuit. Nascar fans have worried that the sport can be led in that direction and the organization has flirted with the idea. However, electric vehicles have a serious problem with reach and charging times, which means that their ability to tear around Daytona for 500 miles is at best limited.

Even worse is the fact that this is a supermarket, not even a sports coupe. Visions from a future Nascar race where they are all electric crossovers will make many racing fans even more upset. We do not say that this will happen, but the images are not good with this.
