We would like to see more creative projects such as these …
Unfortunately, the enthusiasm for motorcycles in North America seems to be declining with any passing decade. The highlight was probably the 1920s, so cooling with a century it sometimes seems as if many people just consider two or three -wheeled transport as a death wish and nothing more. That is why we are always looking for creative bicycle builds.
There is no shortage of helicopters with all kinds of exaggerated styling. That has been something for a long time. Although they certainly have a place in motor culture, they were killed. However, these monotrack bikes are simply the kind of fresh, interesting build that really arouses our interest.
Of course you could regard this as a gigantic belt sander with a chair and are not wrong in that assessment. After all, it uses the same principles and general layout as the power tool – and what’s so bad about? Sometimes the best ideas are some of the simplest, especially since many people could imitate or even use them as a basis for further evolved ideas.
The first we are aware of was built by YouTube channel makes it extreme. The way they design it, let the monotrack lean back the rider and in principle pop and endless Wheelie. Whether the rider can move forward and drive on what some people would call the “correct” way, you know for safety and such.
The video more or less leads you through the process of how this thing was made. Of course, it’s not a complete how-to, but if you are handy enough, you can find out. You may even realize that there are better ways to build this monotrack bike, something it seems that others have taken on themselves.
We were able to dig up a few videos from other monotrack bikes on YouTube that we cannot help, but have the feeling that they are inspired by making it extreme. One is from the Xenonjohn channel and it is an electric monotrack with a similar layout. However, it is not nearly as noisy as the original.
If what you want is noisy, there is a Russian-built tank-traced monotrack bicycle that looks like something that can use our special operations. It not only promises to hit some rugged paths, it comes with a jerry can at the back, so that you do not get stranded during an expedition. We think this is an idea that can be further elaborated in something even better.
Make It Extreme has devised a number of other really innovative designs for all kinds of things, also for motorcycles. A few years ago they made a wild monowhelfth bike, so that people really stop and notice. Last year the channel also contained a small, single motorcyclist. Drift Trikes, a stretch bike and an endobike with one large wheel and two much smaller wheels behind it can all be seen on the canal. This is all used if you are willing to think outside the frameworks, and you have good manufacturing skills, there is no end to the crazy builds at your disposal.
We do not argue for a couple of monotrack bikes that take over the streets of the city – that would be dangerous and stupid. But these would be great for off-road applications, whether it is on a job or elsewhere. Moreover, they could make children enthusiastic about trying out dirt bikes, and so on.
