Ron Howard remembers that Tom Hanks undressed for the Mona Lisa

While the 2006 film The Da Vinci Code Was an exciting mystery, making the film was sometimes more like a comedy.

By one Happy days Reunion event held in Megacon in Orlando on Friday, February 7, director Ron Howard offered an anecdote about the behind the scenes of the film and how Ster Tom Hanks ended up without pants for the world’s most worshiped work of art.

“All our grip equipment and camera equipment was in the Mona Lisa Room, “Howard, 70, said about the production of on-location in the Louvre in Paris.” And at one point we were really hasty, we were behind schedule. ”

He continued: “And Tom Hanks didn’t have time to go back to his dressing room to change for the next scene. And so I gave him some notes about what the next scene would be and he changed his pants to the front of the Mona Lisa. ”

“I said:” Wait a minute. This is a time that we have to remember, “said Howard and noted that many of his films with Hanks – including Splash And Apollo 13 – I brought the actor to strange places. “We have been under the water with the mermaid, we have been weightless with Apollo 13And now you are pants with the Mona Lisa. ”

Elsewhere in the panel – which was also attended by Howard’s Happy days Castmats Anson Williams and Don the most – Howard spoke about how he initially came in as a child actor, but soon realized that he was more attracted to the role of the director.

“I have always loved acting. I always enjoyed being around it,” he said. “But very, very early, I was attracted to the role of the director. And years later I acknowledged that I didn’t have the personality of the performer. I wasn’t hungry to perform … I just wanted to be behind it The camera. ”

Howard has directed Hanks in five films, including three of The Da Vinci Code series: SplashThe Da Vinci -codeApollo 13Angels and demons And Inferno.

In an interview in 2024 with people, the director said that he does not often think about his own portfolio – and at a time he did not see one of his most beloved films.

‘To be honest, I don’t go back and watch my films, so it’s a long time since I saw [Splash]”Howard said when he was asked about scenes from the 40-year film he feels, are underestimated.
