Seattle Seahawks 2025 NFL OffSeason Preview: Sorting the next step after a 10-win season

2024 season: 10-7, second in NFC West, missed play-offs

Overview: The first season of Mike MacDonald as head coach of Seattle Seahawks was not bad. It just didn’t end how Seattle hoped.

The Seahawks won 10 games and it felt like a disappointment. Seattle had an opportunity to win the NFC West, but stumbled down the piece and had questions behind whether Geno Smith should return to Quarterback and what else had to be done to return to the play -offs.

It is confusing to assess the Seahawks because they have a lot of talent and three consecutive winning seasons. But there was only one play -off appearance in those three seasons and no late season wins. It is not a team that needs a rebuilding, but it must find out how they can get over the bump.

Who is in/out: Jones came in a mid -season trade and had an immediate impact. It is difficult to imagine that the Seahawks do not do what is needed to bring it back, although it will be a challenge with their problems with the salary cap. Assuming Jones is the top priority, that may mean that starters such as Tomlinson and Reed will play elsewhere next season.

Why the holes? Seattle has had holes on the offensive line for many years. It is amazing how the franchise was unable to solve the problems. The interior of De Lijn was not great, and that did not help Geno Smith during a up and down season. There is a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, although the defense can use a different difference maker or two from the front. The Seahawks are not shortened by receiver, but it is probably smart to build depth now with DK Metcalf that becomes a free agent after the 2025 season.

Seattle is better off, because it does not have much salary cap space to work with. The Seahawks enter the low season with the third worst cap situation in the NFL, about $ 19 million above the cap, according to Spotrac. They will come under the cap, but it’s hard to see that they clean up enough space to be a big player in a free desk.

Wreckett
Ot George Fant
In Noah Fant
De Dre’mont Jones

Why they might be gone: The most striking cut would be Lockett, who had a fantastic career for Seattle, but will be 33 years old next season and has a salary cap number of $ 30.9. George Fant probably doesn’t seem to be back, and the Seahawks don’t have much at the end, but cutting Noah Fant would free up about $ 8.9 million in cap space. Jones is productive, but cutting him would free up more than $ 11.5 million. That must be considered.

Tyler Booker, OG, Alabama

Why he? The Seahawks probably have to take the best lineman available. There are other needs, but everyone knows what the best need is. At a certain point the Seahawks have to find out how to perform a good attacking line, a problem that has plagued them for most of the past decade.

DK Metcalf seems to be leaving. The Seahawks have a potential this season and the name of Metcalf is already eager in trade rumors. If Seattle is unable to negotiate a contract extension and moved Metcalf, this would increase the rising imagination value of Jaxon Smith-Njigba. JSN appeared as WR1 from Seattle last season and he was able to participate 2025 with much less target matches. —Dalton del Don
